Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) significantly impact the quality of life for patients undergoing treatment for hematologic malignancies. However, research on the use of prophylactic antiemetics in hematologic malignancies remains relatively limited compared to solid tumor. This study investigated prescription patterns and adherence to triple antiemetics in patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing highly emetogenic chemotherapy (HEC), while also analyzing factors influencing prescription practices and comparing patterns between inpatients and outpatients. The analysis utilized Health Insurance Review and Assessment National Patients Sample (HIRA-NPS) dataset from 2018 to 2020. Among the patients studied, 59.7% received triple antiemetics, while a concerning 28.1% did not receive any prophylactic antiemetic. Notably, patients undergoing treatment with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisolone (CHOP) demonstrated a higher likelihood of receiving triple antiemetics compared with other chemotherapy regimens. However, statistically significant differences were not observed for other influencing factors. The findings emphasize the importance of prophylatic antiemetics for continuous chemotherapy in hematologic malignancies. These results are expected to serve as fundamental data for improving guideline awareness among patients with hematologic malignancies and for further research on the use of prophylactic antiemetics.
