국문 초록

This study emphasizes the necessity of English proficiency in the global era and discusses the need to integrate technical education and English language education for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students in Korea’s polytechnics to enhance their competitiveness in the global market. Additionally, it analyzes the cases of TVET English programs in Malaysia, South Africa, and China, aiming to suggest methods that can be applied to Korea’s polytechnics based on the successes and challenges observed in each country’s program. An analysis of the current state of English education in Korea’s polytechnics reveals a general lack of connection between English education and technical training in specific fields and concludes the necessity of a more practical and concrete approach to improve students' English skills and enhance their employability. The new program includes practical English education aligned with vocational skills, digital learning tools to improve technical abilities, a continuous evaluation and improvement process, and a lecture model that integrates English with technical subjects.
