- Analysis of the Status of Public Facility Use to Improve the Eco-Friendliness of the External Space of Green Smart Future Elementary School

The school space, which had been the most unchanged, is undergoing many changes as the school space innovation project began in 2018 and the Green Smart Future School Project is expanding nationwide in 2020. However, these changes are focusing on creating a fu- ture educational environment, so there are many changes in the interior space that introduces smart facilities rather than the exterior space. However, changes in the exterior space are im- portant in school education as well as the interior space, and securing eco-friendliness and sus- tainability, as in the name of the Green Smart Project, is very important. Accordingly, this study focused on elementary schools where outdoor activities are the most important, and sought alternatives to emphasize the image as an eco-friendly future school and to strengthen the school identity and increase sustainability through public facilities. To this end, we inves- tigated the external space composition and installed public facilities centered on 10 domestic Green Smart Future Schools, analyzed the types, and investigated which facilities were reflected in an eco-friendly manner. The research results showed that the facilities with the most items applied were supply facilities (37 items) > road facilities (20 items) > environmental facilities (11 items) > convenience facilities (9 items) > play facilities, others (9 items), and the in- stallation ratio was investigated to be 76.5% for road facilities, 60.3% for supply facilities, 58.9% for convenience facilities, 57.1% for others, 50% for play facilities, and 40% for environ- mental facilities. By detailed facility, the application rate was investigated as follows: 95% for amusement facilities, 82.2% for management facilities, 80.0% for passage facilities, 76.0% for boundary facilities, 73.8% for traffic facilities, 73.3% for sanitation facilities, 66.3% for pro- tection facilities, 65.0% for information facilities, 57.1% for U-City related facilities, 51.7% for rest facilities, 47.5% for green facilities, 45.0% for lighting facilities, 35.7% for landscape facili- ties, 32.0% for sports facilities, and 22.5% for service facilities. In addition, the most numerous design type is play facilities, and the most frequently applied eco-friendly planning elements were the material aspects such as utilization of natural materials, utilization of long-life materi- als, and recyclable materials, and facilities using clean energy were investigated, but it was found that eco-friendly considerations are necessary in various aspects.
