국문 초록

ESG경영으로의 패러다임 전환과 함께 광범위한 그린워싱 노출 위험성이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 정부의 ESG 확산 정책 발표 전후 시기별 그린워싱의 사회적 의제와 그 변화를 분석하여 그린워싱의 양상을 파악하고 정책적 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 뉴스 빅데이터를 수집하고 토픽모델링 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 전반적으로 그린워싱의 주된 관심 대상이 ESG 패러다임하에서 다루어지고, 특히 탄소배출과 녹색금융 분야에서 그린워싱의 위험을 최소화하려는 사회적 노력이 큰 것으로 분석되었다. 특히, 이후 시기에서는 친환경으로 위장한 각종 그린워싱 행위의 실태와 폐해를 주제로 삼은 보도의 비중이 높았으며, 그린워싱 방지를 위한 다양한 규제와 제도 마련과 관련된 주제들이 상당수 차지하였다. 마지막으로 그린워싱을 방지하고 위험을 제거하기 위한 사회구성원의 노력이 더욱 폭넓게 확산되는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 분석 결과를 바탕으로 그린워싱 이슈를 방지하고 친환경으로의 사회적 전환을 위한 정책적 시사점을 제시하였으며, 연구의 한계와 후속연구의 방향을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

With the paradigm shift to ESG management, the risk of extensive greenwashing exposure is increasing. This study analyze the social agenda and changes of greenwashing before and after the announcement of the government's ESG expansion policy to identify the aspects of greenwashing and suggest policy implications. To this end, news big data was collected and topic modeling analysis was conducted. The analysis results showed that the main interest in greenwashing was dealt with under the ESG paradigm in general, and that social efforts to minimize the risks of greenwashing were particularly significant in the areas of carbon emissions and green finance. In particular, in the subsequent period, the proportion of reports on the actual state and harmful effects of various greenwashing acts disguised as eco-friendly was high, and topics related to the establishment of various regulations and systems to prevent greenwashing accounted for a significant portion. Finally, it was analyzed that efforts by members of society to prevent greenwashing and eliminate risks were more widely spread. Based on these analysis results, policy implications for preventing greenwashing issues and social transition to eco-friendliness were suggested, and the limitations of the study and directions for follow-up research were suggested.
