3~5세 손자녀의 식사 돌봄을 지원하는 조모의 인식과 역할 탐색에 관한 질적연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 손자녀 식사 돌봄을 지원하는 조모의 인식과 역할을 탐색하기 위해 수행된 질적연구이다. 방법 경기도 유치원 2곳에 재학 중인 3~5세 유아를 돌보는 조모 5명을 대상으로 2023년 6월부터 2023년 8월까지 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 결과 조모들은 손자녀의 식사 돌봄은 손자녀가 성장 발달할 수 있도록 지원하는 중요한 일이며, 손자녀의 돌봄 일과 중 50% 이상을 차지하는 것으로 나타났다. 조모들은 손자녀의 식사 돌봄에 대한 책임을 다하기 위해 사서 먹이는 음식보다 집밥으로 신선한 재료를 사용하여 직접 조리하고 있었으며, 손자녀의 올바른 식습관 확립을 위해 음식의 간은 되도록 싱겁게 하여 제공하려고 노력하였다. 조모들은 간식이 하루 부족한 식사 및 영양을 보충하기 위한 것으로 되도록 기름지고 당이 많은 간식은 제한하고 과일을 항상 준비하였다. 조모들은 손자녀들에게 강제가 아닌 권유를 통한 식사지도를 하고 있었으며, 손자녀의 음식 준비를 위해 인터넷 검색 및 TV의 음식 프로그램을 통해 정보를 얻기도 하였다. 조모들은 손자녀 식사 돌봄에 관한 어려움으로 손자녀의 까다로운 식습관과 손자녀에 대한 자녀가 정한 식사 규칙을 따르기 힘들어하였다. 결론 향후 연구에서는 성별, 지역을 고려한 조모의 대상자 표본을 확대하여 손자녀 식사 돌봄에 대한 신념이나 의견, 또는 관행을 조사할 수 있을 것이며, 손자녀의 돌봄에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 여러 환경요인도 함께 고려된 탐색적 연구가 이루어지길 바란다.

영문 초록

Objectives This qualitative study aims to explore the perception and role of grandmothers in the feeding of grandchildren aged 3-5 years. Methods The study included five grandmothers of grandchildren enrolled in two kindergarten in Gyeonggi-do. The study period was from June 2023 to August 2023, followed by individual interviews. Results The grandmothers stated that dietary care for their grandchildren was an integral part of supporting their growth and development. To fulfill their responsibility of dietary care of their grandchildren, grandmothers prepared homemade meals with fresh ingredients rather than store-bought food. Grandmothers limited fatty and sugary treats and always prepared fruits to make sure that the treats supplemented the nutrients lacking in the meals. Grandmothers guided grandchildren’s meal by encouragement, not coercion, and searched Internet and TV food programs to prepare food for their grandchildren. Their challenges with dietary care of grandchildren included grandchildren’s picky eating habits and following dietary rules set by their adult children for the grandchildren. Conclusions Future research may increase the sample size of grandparents by gender and geographic region to examine their beliefs, opinions, or practices about feeding for grandchildren. It would be worth conducting exploratory research by considering other environmental factors that may affect feeding of grandchildren.
