국문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the patterns and contexts of the daily lives of children and adolescents. The study subjects were households with children and adolescents from households which had participated in the Korea Welfare Panel. The data collection method was performed through in-depth interviews after having the parents compose their children’s daily time-table. The collected data was used to analyze the patterns and contexts of daily lives of the children and adolescents. Specifically, the usage of children and adolescents’ daily hours was classified according to the child’s school age, and the subjects were classified as belonging to either low-income households or middle-income or higher households in each step. Moreover, the study grasped how the context structure of each family influences their daily life patterns. The results were summarized as follows: First, the children and adolescents showed differences in daily life patterns. Second, the non-low-income and low-income households showed differences in their daily life patterns. Third, a variety of factors and assets, including income, had a dynamic impact on the daily life contexts of the children and adolescents. Based on these findings, guidelines for increasing children and adolescents’ quality of life were suggested.
