국문 초록

This findings of this study can be applied to improve the relationships between aged parents andtheir adult children. The subjects were 552 adult children, and data analysis was performed usingreliability, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, one way ANOVA and multipleregression. The results of this study were as follows; 1) The degree of the elderly's ambivalence oftheir adult children was 8.22(median: 15.5). The mean value in the importance of aged parentsshowed to be 2.22(median: 2). Meanwhile, the average of adult children's depression was21.3(median: 30). The overall role importance of adult children was higher than the median value of3. 2) The elderly's ambivalence level was significantly different according to the spouse, therelationship with the old parents, depression, the health condition of the old parents, the roleimportance of the worker, the importance of old parents, the economic status of the old parents, therole importance of the spouse, the economic status of the adult children, the monthly livingexpenses, the role importance of the parents, children, and face-to-face contact. 3) The variablesthat affect the elderly's ambivalence level were the importance of the old parents, the roleimportance of the parents, the economic status of the old parents, education, the relationship withthe old parents, the spouse, the health condition of the old parents, the health condition of the adultchildren, telephone contact, religion, face-to-face contact, the role importance of the spouse, and theeconomic status of the adult children, which explained about 45% of the total variance.
