국문 초록

The purpose of this study is to recognize the importance of upcycling design methods and study the corresponding design methods at a time when the urgency of preemptive response to environmental destruction is paramount for the survival of mankind and the sustainability of civilization. To solve this challenge, the researcher investigated several cases of upcycling designs. The key elements of upcycling design were identified by examining various upcycling design cases, which are divided into dismantling and reassembling, preserving and repairing, and reconstructing waste. The researcher proposed upcycling furniture design using the wrapping technique, emphasizing the importance of utilizing readily available items, minimizing intervention, and reconstructing them into new forms. This method facilitates the reuse of objects by collecting and redesigning wastes and packaging them in vinyl to produce functional furniture, and presents potential positive social values. The research process applying the wrapping technique in upcycling design identifies its ability to give new values and functionality, which effectively helps users change their perception of waste through the use of furniture.
