국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 교육학에서 이루어지는 양적연구의 인과적 타당성을 제고하기 위한 방안을 제시하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 교란변수, 충돌변수, 매개변수에 대한 개념을 간략히 소개하고, 이러한 변수들이 양적연구의 인과적 타당성에 어떻게 연관되는지를 설명하였다. 특히, 이러한 변수들이 제대로 고려되었는지는 통계모형에서 보여주는 숫자만으로는 알 수 없다는 점을 명확히 하였다. 양적 연구의 인과적 타당성을 제고하기 위해 해당 변수들을 고려하는 것이 중요함을 R 시뮬레이션을 활용하여 보고하였다. 결과 3장에서 진행한 R 시뮬레이션을 통해 교란변수가 누락되어도 얼마든지 통제집단과 처치집단의 사전 차이가 유의하지 않을 수 있음을 보였으며,  가 높은 모형이라고 해도 인과적으로 타당하지 않을 수 있음을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 양적인 진단 방법 혹은 양적인 수치만으로 연구 결과의 인과적 타당성을 주장할 수 없음을 의미한다. 이러한 결과는 또한 특수한 연구문제와는 무관하게 교란변수, 충돌변수, 매개변수에 대한 연구자의 서술적이고 질적인 정당화가 중요함을 말해준다. 결론 본 연구는 정향(방향성) 비순환 그래프를 이용하여 교란변수, 충돌변수, 매개변수의 속성을 고려한 연구를 어떻게 타당하게 수행할 수 있을지를 제시하고 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study presents methods to improve the causal validity of quantitative research in education. Methods The study briefly introduced the concepts of confounding variables, collider variables, and mediator vari-ables, elucidating their associations with the causal validity of quantitative research. Notably, in this research un-derscored that ascertaining the adequate consideration of these variables cannot solely rely on the numerical re-sults of statistical models. Results Through R simulations, in Chapter 3, showed that omitting confounding variables may not render statisti-cally significant pre-treatment differences between the control and treatment groups. Additionally, a model with a high R² may not necessarily be causally valid. Conclusions The study emphasized the significance of utilizing Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) to design research that validly incorporates the attributes of confounding variables, collider variables, and mediator variables.
