국문 초록

본 논문은 한국여성가족패널데이터를 사용하여 양육비용과 임금이 기혼여성의 노동공급(노동시간과 노동참여율)에 미치는 효과를 조사하였다. 임금, 특히 양육비용과 노동공급의 탄력성을 추정하여 보다 효율적인 정책적 제언을 할 수 있다는 것이 본 논문의 목적이라 하겠다. 이 연구를 위한 방법으로는 임금과 육아비용의 내생성을 해결하기 위해 헷킷타입(Heckit-type)의 모델을 적용하였다. 분석 결과, 임금률은 여성노동시장참여율에는 0.90 그리고 노동시간에는 0.06의 탄력성을 나타내고 있으며, 육아비용은 노동시장참여율에 -0.73의 탄력성이 있었다.

영문 초록

Using data from the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women & Family (KLoWF), this paper examines the impact of childcare costs and wage rates on the employment choice and labour supply of married mothers. The empirical approach adapted in this study uses a Heckit-type models taking into account the endogeneity associated with both wages and childcare costs. The estimation results show that wages have a significant positive impact on the probability of women' participating in labour market and working hours. The wage rates elasticities for labour force participation (LPF) and working hours are reported to be 0.90 and 0.62, respectively. Results indicate that childcare costs have a statistically significant negative effect on the decision to work. The childcare cost elasticity for LPF are reported to be -0.73.
