영문 초록

Movie has played a crucial role in forming the era of image in terms of industry and art history. The features of the movie have expanded their denotations, relations, and effects to various genres. Movie creates something that is not existed in reality by representing a real sense explicitly, and manipulates popular society by representing meaningless images. This can be a way for constructing virtual reality. It creates an image of virtual reality for the era of simulacrum. This research argues that these features of the movie can be a new stimulus for performing arts and create illusion with de-screen. Performing artists in the areas of theater, dance, and music have explored creative expressions and effects in relation to film media. Image language has been developed in paintings, pictures, and movie, and tried to accomplish real representation from its start. Norman's movies have expanded their expressional abilities by combining screen with sound. The 4D art team, which has explored various ways for new expression and total art, performed NORMAN- A Tribute to Norman McLaren(2007) on stage, based on Norman's movies. This research examines how the screen forms have been developed in film history, and analyzes the features and meanings of Norman's movies and screen language presented in NORMAN- A Tribute to Norman McLaren. It argues that the history of de-screen is an evolutionary history of image language by emphasizing new applications of film.
