국문 초록

<낮은 칼바람>은 작가의 외조부 이야기(사적 경험)와 나카무라 신타로 사건(공적 사건)을 바탕으로 한 작품으로, 2022년 ‘창작산실 올해의 신작’으로 선정되었으나 코로나19로 인해 대면공연이 취소된 작품이다. 코로나19라는 칼바람을 버텨내며 드디어 2023년도에 극장에서 관객들을 맞이할 수 있게 되었다. 이 작품은 1930년대 식민지 시기 만주를 배경으로 한 작품이다. <낮은 칼바람>은 눈보라에 묻힐 위기에 있는 그때/거기의 목소리를 기록함과 동시에 지금/여기의 칼바람 앞에 위태롭게 서 있는 목소리를 환기시킨다. <낮은 칼바람>은 눈보라에 묻힐 위기에 놓인 어린 조선인 십대들의 낮은 목소리가 그곳에 있었음을 독백과 객석을 향한 발화 방식으로 만주의 추위를 함께하고 있는 지금/여기의 관객들에게 전달한다. 차별과 폭력, 미래에 대한 막막함 등 <낮은 칼바람> 속 어린 조선인들이 겪은 상황과 비교하기에는 무리가 있겠으나, 그들이 겪었던 삶의 고통은 다른 형태로 현재에도 지속되고 있으며, 그들처럼 눈보라에 묻힐 위기에 놓여 있다. 그때의 목소리는 오랜 세월을 거쳐 지금의 극장에 더디게 도착했으나, 반복되고 있는 지금의 목소리는 먼훗날의 극장에서 <낮은 칼바람>과 같은 형태로 기록되지 않기를 바란다.

영문 초록

Low Biting Wind is a work based on the author’s maternal grandfather’s story (private experience) and the Nakamura Shintaro incident (public incident). It was selected as the ‘New Work of the Year by the Creation Center’ in 2022, but the face-to-face performance was canceled due to COVID-19. am. After enduring the harsh winds of COVID-19, we will finally be able to welcome audiences to theaters in 2023. This work is set in Manchuria during the colonial period in the 1930s. Low Biting Wind records voices from then/there that are in danger of being buried in a snowstorm, while at the same time evoking voices standing precariously in front of the biting winds of now/here. Low Biting Wind conveys the low voices of young Korean teenagers, who were in danger of being buried in a snowstorm, to the audience of the here and now sharing the cold of Manchuria through monologues and speeches to the audience. It may be difficult to compare the situations experienced by the young Koreans in Low Biting Wind, such as discrimination, violence, and uncertainty about the future, but the pain of life they experienced continues to this day in a different form, and like them, they are in danger of being buried in a snowstorm. there is. The voice of that time has been slow to arrive at the current theater over a long period of time, but I hope that the voice of the present, which is being repeated, will not be recorded in the same form as Low Biting Wind in the theater of the distant future.
