전환기 발달장애 학생 부모의 자기결정 지도 경험 및 지원 요구에 대한 종단적 질적연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 가정에서의 자기결정 교수 지원 프로그램에 참여했던 전환기 발달장애 학생 부모 10명 을 대상으로 프로그램 종료 이후 3년간의 자녀에 대한 자기결정 지도 경험 및 지원 요구에 대한 종단적 질적연 구를 실시하였다. 이를 위해 프로그램에 참여한 부모들을 대상으로 개별면담을 실시하였으며, 지속적 비교법 을 통해 면담자료를 분석한 결과 다음과 같이 3가지 대주제가 도출되었다. 첫째, 프로그램 참여 이후 자기결정 지도 및 행동 변화와 관련하여 부모들은 프로그램 이후에도 자녀에게 자기결정 행동을 지도하였으며, 자기결 정에 대한 부모의 인식 및 양육태도의 변화는 자녀의 자기결정 행동 변화와 유지로 이어졌다. 둘째, 부모들은 자녀의 고등학교 진학이라는 전환기를 앞두고 새로운 환경의 요구에 직면하면서 진학 및 미래에 대한 고민, 자녀의 역량 부족, 성인기 전환 준비의 어려움 등을 토로하였다. 셋째, 성인기 전환 준비를 위한 지원 요구로 서 기존 프로그램 내용 및 운영의 내실화와 성인기 전환 준비를 위한 교육 및 정책이 포함되었다. 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 가정에서의 자기결정 교수 지원 프로그램의 성과 재고 및 새로운 환경의 요구에 대처하기 위한 지원방안과 관련하여 다음과 같은 시사점을 제언하였다: 1) 자녀의 자기결정 행동 변화와 유지를 위한 지원, 2) 생애주기에 따른 새로운 환경으로의 전환 지원을 위한 자기결정 증진.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the experiences and support needs of 10 parents of transition-aged students with developmental disabilities for three years after participation in the Support Program for Instruction of Self-Determination at Home using longitudinal qualitative research. For this study, individual interviews were conducted with all participants. All collected data were analyzed using a constant comparative method. Based on the qualitative analysis, three themes emerged as follows: (a) parents have taught their children self-determined behaviors and changes in parents’ perception and parenting regarding self-determination led to changes and maintenance regarding self-determined behaviors in their children; (b) parents expressed concerns about going to school and the future, their children’s lack of capabilities, and difficulties in preparing for the transition to adulthood as parents faced the demands of the new environment of high school; and (c) support needs for preparing the transition to adulthood included the improvement of existing program content and operation, as well as education and policies for preparing for the transition to adulthood. Based on the findings, implications were provided to reconsider the outcomes of the program and to provide further support, such as (a) the support for changes and maintenance of self-determined behaviors in children with developmental disabilities and (b) the promotion of self-determination to support a transition to new environments across the life span.
