청소년 관람 대중영화에 나타난 성 고정관념에 관한 연구

국문 초록

시각적 특수효과와 대중성을 앞세운 헐리우드 영화의 공세가 매서운 상황에서한국 영화산업이 처한 현실은 만만치 않다. 미국 프랜차이즈 시리즈 영화와 경쟁해야 하는 한국영화는 범죄와 같은 자극적인 소재를 선택하는 경향이 높아지고있고 12세이상 관람가 등급에서는 프랜차이즈 영화를 앞세운 외국영화가 점유율68%가 넘는 우위를 차지하고 있다. 한국영화는 범죄, 역사적 사실 또는 실화를바탕으로 하는 장르영화를 통해 남성 중심의 서사를 계승하며 성장해왔다. 그러나 여성주의의 새로운 등장과 이를 제작환경과 서사에 모두 반영하기를 원하는관객의 목소리가 높아지고 있는 지금, 한국영화는 변화를 감지하고 이에 응답해야 하는 중요한 시점에 서 있다. 본 연구는 상영등급을 기준으로 청소년 관람이가능한 최근 5년의 영화를 대상으로 여성 캐릭터의 재현 유형을 알아본다. 여성주인공 영화의 장르별/등급별 작품수를 알아보고 성 고정관념에 관한 해외와 국내의 선행연구를 바탕으로 재현 유형을 짚어본다. 이를 통해 한국의 청소년들이성장 과정에서 영화를 통해 만나게 되는 여성의 모습이 어떤 한계에 봉착해 있는지 가늠해보고 여성 캐릭터의 성장과 변화를 이끌 논의가 전개되기를 바란다.

영문 초록

The reality of the Korean film industry is not satisfactory in a situation where the Hollywood movie’s offensive with visual special effects and popularity is in a hurry. Korean films that compete with the US franchise series tend to select stimuli such as crime. Foreign movies with a franchise dominance over 68% have a dominance over the age of 12. Korean films have grown by inheriting male-centered narratives through genre films based on crime or historical facts. However, now that the new appearance of feminism has raised the voice of audiences who want to incorporate them into production environments and narratives, Korean films are at a crucial point to detect and respond to change. This study examines the types of representation of female characters in the films of the last 5 years, which can be viewed on the basis of the rating. It will examine the number of works by genre / grade of female main characters and examine the types of representation based on previous studies on gender stereotypes both overseas and domestic. Through this, it will be able to gauge to what extent the Korean youth are faced with the limitations of the women whom they meet through films during their growth. I hope the discussion will lead to the growth and change of female characters in the future.
