영문 초록

This paper is to suggest the goals and directions of writing education in university. The university is the ground of academic activities. therefore goals of writing education in university are defined as ‘the improvement of logical thinking ability’ and ‘the improvement of expression ability’, Writing styles are divided into academic writing for experts and essay writing for non-experts, and different directions are suggested for teaching each writing style. What is important in academic writing is to learn communication methods coded by the community of the discussions. The information conveying and readers’ interest motivations are very important in essay writing.
