대학생의 읽기 목적에 따른 위키 사이트의 이용 현황 및 인식 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 대학생의 읽기 목적에 따른 위키 사이트의 인식 및 이용 현황을 살펴보기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다.이를 알아보기 위하여 대학생 286명을 대상으로 읽기목적별 정보 검색 방법과 위키 사이트 이용에 대해 설문조사를 실시하였다.먼저 읽기 목적별 정보 검색 방법을 살펴보았을 때,일상에서 정보 검색과 학술적 목적의 정보 검색 모두 검색 엔진을 사용한다는 응답이 가장 많았다.위키 사이트는 일상 정보검색에서는 평균 3.51이었으나 학술 목적으로는 평균 3.18로 통계적으로 유의미하게낮게 나타났다.학술 목적으로 위키 사이트를 이용하는 방식을 물어보았을 때 관련 개념을 이해하기 위해서가 3.53으로 가장 높았고,위키 사이트를 이용하는 이유 역시 필요한 정보를 잘 정리해서 보여주고,포털 검색에서 가장 먼저 나타났기 때문이라는 응답이 많았다.반면 학술 목적으로 위키 사이트를 이용하지 않는 이유로는 위키 사이트의 정보를 신뢰하지 않는다는 응답이 가장 높게 나왔다.위키 사이트에 대한 교수와친구들의 반응에 대해 물어보았을 때에도 ‘위키 사이트’에 대한 논의가 많이 이루어지지 않고 있으며 논의된다고 하더라도 부정적으로 바라보고 있음을 알 수 있다.이에따라 대학생들이 읽기 목적에 따라 온라인 정보 및 위키 사이트를 적절히 이용할 수있도록 구체적인 이용 지침을 제공하고 교육하는 것이 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study conducted a survey of 286 college students to examine their perceptions and use of Wiki sites according to their reading purposes. First, we examined how university students searched for information by reading purpose and found that the most common response was to use search engines for both daily and academic information search. Wiki sites had a mean of 3.51 for daily reading but a statistically significant lower mean of 3.18 for academic reading. When asked how they used Wiki sites for academic purposes, the most common reason was to understand related concepts, and the most common reason for using Wikis was because they duly organized the information they needed and were the first to appear in portal searches. However, the most common reason given for not using Wiki sites for academic purposes is that they do not trust the information on the Wiki site. When asked about their professors’ and friends’ reactions to Wiki sites, it is clear that Wiki sites are not discussed much, and even when they are, they are viewed negatively. It is necessary to provide specific usage guidelines and instruction to help college students use online information and Wiki sites appropriately for their reading purposes.
