베이지안 이론과 ROPE 개념을 이용한 평균 차이 검증과 특수교육 연구의 시사점 탐색

국문 초록

전통적인 t 검증 분석은 특수교육 연구에서 두 평균의 차이를 검증하기 위한 주요한 통계 방법으로 활용되어 왔다. 하지만 t 검증 분석은 빈도주의 통계에 기반을 두고 있기에, 통계적으로 유한 평균의 차이 검증은 가능하지만, 교육 현장에서 의미 있는 실제적 유의성을 검증하지 못하는 한계점을 갖고 있었다. 본 연구에서는 전통적인 t 검증 분석 방법의 대안으로 베이지안 이론과 ROPE(Region of Practical Equivalence)의 개념을 활용하는 방법을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서는 두 분석 방법의 차이를 확인하기 위해서 특수교육의 예시 자료를 두 가지 방법으로 분석한 후에 결과를 비교하였다. 본 연구의 결과에 따르면, ROPE를 활용한 베이지안 이론은 특수교육 연구에서 실제적 유의성을 검증하는 데 유용하며, 평균의 차이에 대한 풍부한 분석 결과를 추가로 제공할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The traditional t test has been the primary statistical method for testing the difference between two means in special education research. However, since the t-test is based on frequentist statistics, it has the limitation of being able to test the difference between statistically finite means, but not the practical significance that is meaningful in the field of education. In this study, we proposed an alternative to the traditional t test analysis method that utilizes Bayesian theory and the concept of ROPE (Region of Practical equivalence). In order to verify the differences between the two methods, this study analyzed example data from special education with both methods and compared the results. The results of this study show that Bayesian theory using ROPE is useful for testing practical significance in special education research, and can additionally provide richer analysis results for differences in means.
