영문 초록

Considering the Gyeongin Ara Waterway’s own capacity, the number of visitors is below expectations, and this phenomenon is pointed out as the cause of the lack of leisure, culture, and tourism functions. Accordingly, this article aims to study ways to improve the efficiency of waterfront space use through the creation of a waterpark, a harbor waterfront facility, as way to improve the tourism competitiveness of Gyeongin Ara Waterway. The proposed waterpark aims to create business value, build an entertainment image for the Gyeongin Port area, and increase attraction. To this end, we plan to install extreme amusement facilities targeting young people that are different from nearby waterparks, operate intensively during the peak summer season, and utilize the surrounding waterfront space to hold various events and performances. These proposals can be expected to provide a wider variety of experiences, increase competitiveness, and reduce costs. Therefore, this study aims to develop Gyeongin Ara Waterway into prosperous through the waterpark project, a new model for sustainable tourism development, and confirm the effect of creating positive economic effects on the local community.
