영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to focus on community-based tourism as a means to regional vitalization. It aimed to examine the use of community-based tourism through examples from Japanese ports of call, including Kochi Port, Aomori Port, Kyotomaizuru Port, and Sasebo Port. As a result, three primary methods for utilizing community-based tourism to revitalize port of call regions were identified. Firstly, it involves establishing a cooperative system among local entities. This requires collaboration among various local entities such as port managers, immigration offices, tourism associations, and transportation-related companies. This collaborative effort is essential for transforming the cruise ship's port of call into a sustainable community-based tourist destination rather than a temporary one, depending on the nature and role of the activities. Secondly, understanding the needs of shipping companies and cruise tourists is crucial when planning tours for cruise visitors to Japan. This necessitates the creation of networks between shipping companies, travel agencies, land operators, and local residents. Thirdly, active participation from local residents is encouraged. This can be achieved through welcome events, temporary tourist information centers, and temporary local marketplaces. These initiatives not only enhance the region's image for cruise tourists but also contribute to increased consumption within the area.
