말뭉치 분석을 활용한 ‘붓다’, ‘쏟다’의 유의어 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 유의어 동사 ‘붓다’와 ‘쏟다’를 연구 대상으로 삼아 말뭉치 내 공기어 및 유의 관계를 분석하고 언어 네트워크를 시각화한 결과를 바탕으로 효과적 교수-학습을 위한 기초 자료를 제시하고자 하였다. 방법 ‘붓다’와 ‘쏟다’의 의미 관계를 분석하기 위하여 말뭉치 자료를 활용하여 공기어 및 언어 네트워크 분석을 진행하였다. 일상대화 말뭉치와 구어 말뭉치를 중심으로 모어 화자의 어휘 사용과 학습자 말뭉치에 나타나는 공기어를 살펴봄으로써 ‘붓다’와 ‘쏟다’의의미 관계 및 구체적인 사용 양상을 검토하였고, 이를 언어 네트워크 분석을 통해 시각화하였다. 결과 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 한국어 모어 화자는 ‘붓다’와 ‘쏟다’의 다양한 확장 의미를 활용하고 있으나, 이에 반해 한국어학습자는 한국어 교재에 제시되어 있는 제한된 공기어를 사용하고 있어 유의어의 확장 의미를 충분히 이해하지 못하고 있음을 알수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 중·고급의 한국어 학습자들도 ‘붓다’와 ‘쏟다’의 결합어휘 관계를 충분히 이해하지 못하여 두 어휘를 교체하여 사용하는 오류를 범하고 있음을 발견하였다. 결론 ‘붓다’와 ‘쏟다’의 공기어를 통한 의미 관계 분석을 성분 분석법을 통해 각 변별적 자질을 검토하였고, 한국어 학습자를 위한급수별 의미 제시 순서 및 대표 공기어를 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to provide foundational insights for effective instruction and learning by examining the synonymous verbs ‘붓다 (to pour)’ and ‘쏟다 (to spill)’. The research focuses on analyzing the co-occurring words and semantic relationships within a corpus and visualizing the results through language networks. Methods Based on the examination of vocabulary usage in everyday conversation and spoken corpora of native Korean speakers, as well as the investigation of co-occuring words found in Korean language learner corpora, the semantic relationship and specific patterns of usage for ‘붓다’ (to pour) and ‘쏟다’ (to spill) were explored and visualized through language network analysis. Results The results of this study are as follows: while native Korean speakers use various extended meanings of ‘붓다’ (to pour) and ‘쏟다’ (to spill), Korean language learners tend to rely on a limited set of co-occuring words provided in Korean textbooks. It indicates an insufficient understanding of the expanded meanings of these synonyms among learners. Additionally, even intermediate and advanced Korean learners have been found to lack a comprehensive understanding of the co-occuring words of ‘붓다 (to pour)’ and ‘쏟다 (to spill)’, leading them to mistakenly interchange the two terms. Conclusions This study employs componential analysis to examine the distinctive characteristics of semantic relationships through the co-occurring words of ‘붓다 (to pour)’ and ‘쏟다 (to spill)’. Furthermore, we propose a suggested order of presenting meanings and representative co-occurring words for Korean language learners at different proficiency levels.
