국문 초록

김연수는 정응민 바디 <심청가>를 바탕으로 하고, 완판본 <심청전>, 강상련, 박동실바디 <심청가>, 신재효본 <심청가> 등을 참고하여 <심청가> 사설을 변개시켜서 인물의 전형성을 강화함으로써 <심청가>의 극적 효과를 극대화 하였다. 첫째, 김연수본에서는 곽씨 부인의 부덕과 함께 심봉사의 후사(後嗣)에 대한 갈망을 특별히 강조한다. 그리고 곽씨 부인의 죽음이 임신과 출산 중에도 심봉사를 봉양할 수밖에 없었던 비극적 처지 때문이라는 사실을 강조하여, 곽씨 부인의 죽음과 심청의 탄생에 내포된 비극적 역설을 선명하게 부각시킨다. 둘째, 여타 이본에 비해 심청의 효와 그에 대한 보상을 강조하면서도 심청의 죽음을 야기한 심봉사의 희화적인 모습을 부각시켜, 김연수의 심봉사에 대한 풍자적 시각을 드러낸다. 그리고 작품의 후반부에서는 완판본 이후의 창본들과 달리 신재효본 사설을 수용하여 뺑덕어미와 수작하는 장면, 황성 가는 길에 방아를 찧어주는 장면 등을 희화적으로 그린다. 이를 통해 판소리 청중에게 골계미를 제공하면서 곽씨부인, 그리고 심청의 죽음에 원인을 제공한 심봉사의 책임을 물은 것이다.

영문 초록

On the basis of Cheong, Eungmin’s version of , Kim, Yeun-soo referred to , , to create his version of . In his work, a character’s typicality is strengthened to maximize a dramatic effect. First of all, Mrs. Gwak’s womanly virtues and Simbongsa’s desire for a son is especially emphasized in his version of . A tragic paradox implied in Mrs. Gwak’s death is stood out by stressing Mrs. Gwak’s pathetic situation. While she was suffering a pregnancy and labor, she kept supporting Simbongsa(심봉사) and finally it led her to the death. Second, it is exposed that Kim, Yeunsoo’s satirical viewpoint to Simbongsa in several scenes. For example, his sorrow was caricatured when he faced Mrs. Gwak’s death and panicked to be a single father of Sim, Cheong. When he made an offering to monk in Mongeun temple without reflecting on the circumstances, his belated regret was also caricutured in Kim, Yeun-soo’s work. At the latter half of Kim, Yeun-soo’s version of , a scene of Simbongsa’s flirting with Paengdeok’s mother(뺑덕어멈) and milling on his way to go to Seoul is described burlesquely to maximize a humor. It is related to Sin, Jaehyo version and different from other Pansori of the day. Third, unlike other versions including Han, Ae-soon’s version or Jeong, Kweun-jin’s version, it is detailedly described in Kim, Yeun-soo’s version that Sim-cheong’s refusal of Mrs. Chang’s(장승상 부인) offering payment donor in kind and Mrs. Chang’s(장승상 부인) holding a memorial service for Sim-cheong and constructing a memorial building(망사대) to console Sim-cheong. These scenes emphasize Sim-cheong’s deep love for her parents and offer a rightfulness about a repay for that.
