In this article, we took a look at the rhythm of dramatic songs and formative process of gobup theory and also observed the details and meanings of gobup theory (theory of drum musical performance) focusing on Oh Sung Sam's theory, daemeung drummer (a very famous musician of drum musical performance). Oh Sung Sam created an important gobup theory and organized it. He is the greatest drummer in terms of both practice and theory as Lee Bo Hyung mentioned.
Jinyangjo 24 bakron, the theory of the cosmic dual forces and the 24 solar terms, Kikyungkyulhae's Saengsamac which are organized by Oh Sung Sam are accepted broadly among existing gobup theory and those theories are estimated to have helped in the development of music. And the gobup practice and theory of Oh Sung Sam spread through many disciples. Drummers who are taught by him are Oh Su Guan, Kim Meung Hwan, Kim Won Gil, Kim Un Gil, Kim Eun Su, and etc. Through these people, the theory of Oh Sung Sam spread more widely and these people probably led the trend of gobup which was centered around Jonnam province. So far dramatic song drummers like Oh Sung Sam and gobup theory have not attracted attention like its dramatic song counterpart, but in the future more research will be necessary.
