유치원과 어린이집 교사의 다문화 교육태도 IPA분석

국문 초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 유아교사의 다문화교육태도 중요도와 실행도에 대한 인식을 조사하고 개선 방안을 모색해 보는 데 있다. 방법 연구대상은 서울, 경기 지역의 유치원과 어린이집에 재직 중인 교사 399명이다. 수집된 자료는 유아교육기관 유형에 따른 다문화교육태도에 대한 중요도와 실행도 차이 검증을 위해 대응표본 t-검증, 향후 개선 내용 확인을 위해 IPA 분석을 실시하였다. 결과 유아교육기관 유형에 따른 IPA 분석 결과 유치원교사는 다문화 교사역할 영역에서 ‘다양한 배경을 가진 유아들의 필요와 요구에 부응하기 위해 교사 역할 재정립하기’가 집중 투자해야 할 항목으로 나타났다. 반면 어린이집교사의 경우 다문화 교사역할 영역에서 ‘다양한 문화적 배경을 가진 유아들의 필요에 맞게 수업방법을 변화시키기’와 다문화 교육과정 영역 영역에서 ‘유아들이 자신의문화에 자긍심을 갖도록 하기’가 집중 투자 항목으로 분석되었다. 결론 이러한 결과는 다문화 가정 유아의 필요와 요구를 반영하여 교육을 실행하려는 교사의 다문화 교육 태도 형성을 위해 유아교육기관 및 정부의 노력이 요구됨을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate early childhood teachers' perceptions of the importance and practice of multicultural education attitudes and to find ways to improve them. Methods The subjects of this study were 399 teachers working in kindergartens and daycare centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi. For the collected data, a paired-sample t-test was conducted to verify the difference in the importance and implementation of attitudes toward multicultural education according to the type of early childhood education institution, and an IPA analysis was conducted to confirm future improvements. Results As a result of the IPA analysis according to the type of early childhood education institution, it was found that ‘reestablishing the teacher role to meet the needs and demands of young children with various backgrounds’ is an item that kindergarten teachers should invest intensively in the multicultural teacher role area. On the other hand, in the case of daycare center teachers, ‘changing teaching methods to suit the needs of young children with diverse cultural backgrounds’ in the multicultural teacher role area and ‘making children feel proud of their own culture’ in the multicultural curriculum area are the main investment items. Conclusions These results suggest that efforts by early childhood education institutions and the government are required to form teachers' multicultural education attitudes that reflect the needs and demands of children from multicultural families.
