영문 초록

This study aims to investigate how instructors and learners understand the online and offline classes along the changing environment of language learning. This study seeks to draw implications on possible methods for Korean education by investigating instructor and learner satisfaction as well as (in)effective sectors in online classes. In order to achieve such goal, a survey has been conducted on exchange students and instructors involved in the Korean Language Learning Program offered at H University from April 13th of 2020 to June 5th of the same year. The result of the asynchronous online class satisfaction survey indicated that online classes are effective for learning vocabulary and grammar. On the other hand, student interaction including rapport formation and immediate Q&A were more active in offline classes compared to that of online classes. Also, the instructors and students had varying opinion on the sectors they enjoyed or found challenging in online classes, and the difference was the most significant in speaking and listening sectors. In order to enhance satisfaction in online Korean language classes, consistent effort must be made to conduct more studies on effective teaching and related cases.
