국문 초록

리하르트 바그너(Richard Wagner, 1813-1883)는 음악사상 가장 연구가 많이 되고 오늘날까지 극단적인 찬사와 비난을 동시에 받으면서 논쟁의 한 복판에 서있는 인물이다. 본 논문은 바그너에 관한 연구 중에서 현행 학계의 가장 뜨거운 쟁점이 되고 있는 바그너의 반유대주의 전반에 대한 이해를 도모하기 위해 시도되었고, 그 첫 번째 단계로서 바그너의 반유대주의의 원인과 배경을 다루었다. 논의의 전개에서는 선행연구에서 부각된 주요 주장과 사안에 따라 첨예한 대립 중에 있는 주요 쟁점을 검증·정리하였다.

영문 초록

To this day Richard Wagner is the composer at the center of controversy who has beenresearched most in music history since he received not only honorable mentions but also severecriticisms. Overall, this paper pursues the understanding of Wagner’s antisemitism which is one ofthe most heated issues in the current academic society of music history. The first step to the studydeals with the cause and background of Wagner’s antisemitism. For logical unfolding of research,the significant and acute issues embossed preceding research are verified and classified in this article.
