초등학교 2학년의 부러진 자를 이용한 길이 측정 활동 분석

국문 초록

길이 측정을 위해 측정 도구로서 눈금 있는 자를 이용하며, 이에 대한 학습은 측정 영역의 주요 내용 요소이다. 길이 측정이란 자의 0 눈금을 기준으로 단위가 몇 번 되풀이 되는지 파악하는 활동인데, 0 부분이 부러져 있다면 자의 눈금을 읽는 것 이상의 전략을 요구한다는 의미에서 진정한 수학적 문제 해결 상황이 될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 보통의 자를 이용하여 길이 측정이 가능한 초등학교 2학년 학생들을 대상으로 두 가지 종류의 부러진 자를 이용한 길이 측정 활동을 하도록 하고 그 과정을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 부러진 자를 이용하여 길이를 측정할 때 학생들이 사용하는 전략은 크게 단위량 세기, 시작점을 0으로 생각하고 눈금에 대응하는 수 읽기, 뺄셈의 세 가지였으며, 시작점을 1로 생각하고 눈금에 대응하는 수를 읽거나 무조건 끝점에 해당하는 수를 읽는 오류도 파악되었다. 분석 결과를 토대로 길이 측정과 관련하여 부러진 자의 활용에 관한 몇 가지 유의미한 시사점을 도출하였다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on investigating the strategies that are used to measure length by using two broken rulers by second grade students that can measure length using a normal ruler. As per the results of the study, when students measure length using broken rulers, the strategies they use are counting units, thinking of the starting point as 0 and reading the number corresponding to the hash mark, and using subtraction to get the number of units of length. Also, some errors were observed in the study. Some students thought of the starting point as 1 and read the number corresponding to the hash mark. Another students unconditionally read the number of the end point. Based on the results of the analysis, some significant implications for the teaching and learning of the measurement domain were derived.
