영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to highlight the structure and effects of intercultural interactions between international tourists and local hosts. To achieve this purpose, the study adopted a naturalistic inquiry approach. This approach was selected as appropriate for the study because it yielded an emergent, emic understanding of the tourism experience. International tourists who had pursued for a pleasure travel individually within the past one year were interviewed systematically using Spradley’s ethnographic interview method. As a result of the study, an integrated model of the intercultural interactions of international tourists was suggested from the shared themes, meanings and patterns that shaped participant’s international tourism experiences. The model is composed of three parts, which are precedent conditions, structures, and the effects of intercultural interactions.
