영문 초록

Urban planning and public health have a common goal of improving the health of citizens. Although these two disciplines have not made special efforts to find a contact over the past few decades, it is time for interdisciplinary approach efforts in both fields to achieve the common goal. This study proposes the following discussions on the urban health to be addressed in urban planning perspective: 1) active living research and environmental design, 2) healthy cities in response to aging, and 3) sustainable and healthy cities in response to environmental threats such as climate change and pandemic. Meanwhile, this study provides three roles of academy of urban health: 1) an outpost of cooperaton with various academic fields such as urban planning, environmental studies, economics, and public health, 2) a think-tank for multidisciplinary research topics, and 3) to grow into an international academy that links urban planning and public health. We can expect that the Academy of Urban Health will become a sustainable academic association where interdisciplinary research activities can be promoted.
