내일로 티켓을 이용한 철도여행객의 이동특성 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국철도공사가 만 25세 이하 젊은층에 한정하여 상품화한 ‘내일로’ 철도티켓상품을 대상으로 철도 자유여행티켓 이용자의 여행이동특성을 분석하였다. 구체적으로 중력모형을 사용하여 내일로 티켓 이용자의 여행이동특성을 파악하였고, 그들의 이동에 영향을 주는 요인들을 검증하였다. 내일로 티켓 이용자들에게 인기가 높은 전라남도 순천지역에서 설문조사를 실시하여 실증적 자료를 수집하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 내일로 티켓 이용자들은 여행을 함에 있어 거리 또는 소요시간과 같은 거리억제요인에 구애를 받지 않는다. 둘째, 내일로 티켓 이용자들은 인구집중지역에서 도시화율이 낮은 지역으로 이동하며, 당일여행이 아닌 숙박여행, 그리고 하나의 목적지가 아닌 다목적지 여행을 한다. 티켓이용 첫날 장거리를 이동하며 다음날에는 지역 내에서 단거리를 이동한다. 셋째, 철도상품 이용자임에도 불구하고 철도로 가지 못하는 지역도 방문하며, 이때 철도연계교통수단을 이용한다. 본 연구결과는 주요 철도역을 중심으로 한 계획적 관광목적지 및 관광자원개발과 이를 통한 지역개발 및 경제 활성화 방안 마련을 위한 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the patterns of rail travellers’ mobility behaviour. Particular attention in this study has been given to young travellers in their twenties and who travel with the ‘Railro’ rail ticket. Using O/D analysis, this study identified possible determinants of travellers’ mobility behaviour in their rail travel. Gravity model was employed to statistically examine the role of the determinants. The questionnaire survey was conducted in Suncheon area, one of the most popular destinations among the Railro rail ticket holders. This study found that travel time and physical distance are not constraints in their visit. Second, the ticket users move to lower urbanised regions. Moreover, the ticket users do not travel to one destination but to multi-destinations. They travel longer distance on the first day of their travel but travel shorter distance on the second day. Lastly, despite holding the rail ticket, they also visit various regions inaccessible by train using connected other transportations. These results provide implications for establishing plans for the regional development and the revitalization of the regional economy as well as developing tourism destination and resources using the main railway stations.
