Platycephalus indicus is a shallow sea fish, and it is a major fish species that contributes to the income increase of the aquaculture industry through seedling production and fry release. In this study, for the study on the ecology and early growth of the P. indicus, egg development of the P. indicus was observed according to temperature and salinity changes. The eggs of the P. indicus were spherical and separable, and the diameter of the fertilized eggs was 1.0~1.1 mm. The time taken and hatching rate according to the water temperature were 51.1 hours at 19.0℃, the hatching rate was 81.3%, 50.4 hours at 22.0℃, the hatching rate was 82.3%, 49.8 hours at 25.0℃, the hatching rate was 72.4%, 13.0℃. It did not hatch at 16.0℃. The time and hatching rate according to the salinity were 53.6 hours at 14.0 psu, the hatching rate was 42.1%, 52.0 hours and 74.2% at 21.0 psu, 50.5 hours and 82.1% at 28.0 psu, and 50.1 hours and 84.3% at 32.0 psu. These results will be utilized as basic biological data for the production of artificial seedlings of farmed fish species.
