국문 초록

이 메타 분석의 목적은 읽기 이해에 대한 요약하기 읽기 전략 지도의 전반적인 효과와 그것에 영향을 주는 중재 변인을 탐색하는 데 있다. 이를 위해, Hedges와 Olkin이 개발한 메타 분석 방법이 사용되었다. 분석 결과에 따르면, 읽기 이해에 대한 요약하기 전략 지도의 평균 효과 크기는 .92였으며, 처치(處置) 길이, 처치 유형, 학년, 학생 특성 등과 같은 중재 변인은 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 이것은 요약하기 전략 지도가 학생들의 텍스트에 대한 이해를 증가시키며, 아울러 그러한 효과는 처치 길이, 처치 유형, 학년, 학생 특성을 가로질러 나타난 다는 것을 보여준다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this meta-analytic study was to investigate the overall effect of summarization instruction on reading comprehension of texts and to identify the moderator variables of summarization instruction on it. As a research method, a meta-analytical approach developed by Hedge and Olkin was used. Results indicate that the average of effect sizes on reading comprehension is .92. For moderator variables, treatment length, treatment type, grade, and student type were found not to be statistically significant for reading comprehension of texts. These findings suggest that teaching summarization strategy to students may sufficiently facilitate their comprehension of texts and that the effects may be sustained across the moderator variables.
