국문 초록

이 글에서는 『위저드 베이커리』를 중심으로 한국현대청소년소설 내부에 나타난 미묘한 움직임에 대해 살펴보았다. 이 소설은 성장의 플롯을 지닌 현대청소년소설로 볼 수 있다. ‘탈가를 통한 세상과의 봉합’으로 요약되는 스토리는, 이 소설이 기존의 성장 트랙을 따르지 않았음을 말해준다. 이 소설이 폄하되어온 맥락에는 성장의 플롯이 약하다는 인식이 강했다. 그러나 이 소설은 성장이 없는 소설이 아니라, 또 다른 성장을 이야기한 소설로 볼 수 있다. 유아성애라는 병을 앓고 있는 아버지에게서 벗어나 성장해야 하는 주인공에게 현실적 공간은 의미가 없었을 수 있다. 태생은 청소년이 어쩔 수가 없는 문제이기 때문이다. 때문에 이 소설의 판타지 수용은 ‘단지 거기 있었을 뿐인’ 청소년을 위로하려는 의도가 강하다. 모델독자로 삼은 청소년이 잠시만이라도 위안 받을 수 있다면, 이 소설의 판타지는 그 몫을 다했다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 보면, 이 소설은 가려진 청소년 문제를 현실적으로 이해한 소설이며, 기존 청소년소설이 은폐해온 불편한 진실을 날카롭게 파헤친 소설인 동시에, 청소년의 코드로 청소년을 이해하고 위로하고자 한 소설이라고 볼 수 있다. 우리 사회의 섬뜩한 진실을 보여주었을 뿐 아니라, 청소년의 눈높이에 맞는 교훈을 주었다는 점에서 가치 있는 소설이라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study was written for finding the worth of the fiction 『Wizard Bakery』written by Gu Byung-Mo and settling the concept and the category of the Korean modern juvenile fiction. This fiction has the structure of the juvenile fiction but has special aspects. The first, the protagonist juvenile is different from the others in Korean modern juvenile fiction. He had not any families had anxious about himself. And the character of his parents is different from the others. They are not to be worry about their son but to feel heavy their problems. So the protagonist juvenile say he loses his fairy tales in this novel. If I view this context, this novel is showed the new point of view about Korean modern juvenile fiction and have been understood the problems juvenile have actually. But this novel have spoken ill by many investigators, because it was considered it has not the structure of a growth or the process of growth. But they are not suitable. So I wrote this paper for clearness as follows; this novel has not the structure of a growth but also the worth as a juvenile fiction.
