병사의 부모-자녀 의사소통과 자아 존중감의 관계에서 양성평등의식의 매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 병사의 부모 자녀간 의사소통과 자아존중감의 관계에서 양성평등의식의 매개효과를 확인하고자 실시되었다. 이를 위해 강원도 H 지역의 육군 병사 315명을 대상으로 부모 자녀 간 의사소통유형, 한국형 남녀평등의식과 자아존중감을 측정하였다. 수집된 자료들은 SPSS/WIN 20.0 프로그램을 사용하여 상관관계와 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 부모 자녀 간 의사소통은 자아존중감과 양성평등의식에 영향을 주었다. 둘째 양성평등의식은 자아존중감에 영향을 주었다, 셋째, 부모 자녀 간 의사소통과 자아존중감의 관계에서 양성평등의식이 부분적으로 매개하였다. 이는 부모 자녀 간 의사소통과 함께 양성평등의식을 높여주면 병사들의 자아존중감이 높아지는 진다는 것을 의미한다. 이러한 결과는 병사들의 부모와 자녀를 대상으로 하는 의사소통 증진 프로그램이 필요성과 자아존중감이 낮은 병사를 상담할 때 의사소통 기술과 양성평등의식을 높일 수 있도록 상담이 이루어지면 자아존중감의 발달에 도움을 줄 수 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study seeks to examine the mediating effect of a soldier’s level of gender equality awareness on the relationship between parent-child communication and self-esteem. To that end, a survey measuring parent-child communication, self-esteem and gender equality awareness was conducted on 315 army personnel stationed in Area ‘H’ of Gangwon Province. Correlation and regression analyses were performed on the collected data using the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, parent-child communication was correlated with self-esteem and gender equality awareness. Second, gender equality awareness was correlated with self-esteem. Third, gender equality awareness was a partial mediator in the relationship between parent-child communication and self-esteem. These results show that fostering better parent-child communication and heightening one’s awareness of gender equality issues are effective in raising the level of self-esteem in service members, implying the need for a program to bolster parent-child communication as well as the potential effectiveness of counseling centered around building communication skills and gender awareness on improving self-esteem in military personnel with low self-esteem.
