부부갈등이 유아의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향에서 양육행동의 매개효과

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 유아를 양육하고 있는 어머니가 경험하는 부부갈등이 양육행동을 매개로 하여 유아의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향을 규명하였다. 방법 조사대상은 경기도에 위치한 유치원에 다니는 만 4, 5세 유아와 그 어머니였다. 부부갈등과 양육행동은 어머니에게 질문지를 배부하여 자료를 수집하였고, 유아의 자아존중감은 담임교사의 평가를 통해 측정하였다. 자료의 분석 방법으로 변인 간의 관련성을 분석하기 위하여 상관관계 분석과 회귀분석을 사용하였으며, 매개효과의 통계적 유의성은 Sobel test를 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과 어머니가 경험하는 부부갈등 수준이 높을수록 어머니의 애정적 양육행동과 자율적 양육행동은 적게 나타났고, 어머니가 유아에게 보이는 애정적 양육행동과 자율적 양육행동은 유아의 자아존중감을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 어머니의 부부갈등이 유아의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향에서 양육행동의 매개효과를 분석한 결과를 보면, 부부갈등이 유아의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향에서 어머니의 애정적 양육행동과 자율적 양육행동 모두 완전 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 본 연구의 결과를 통해 유아의 자아존중감 발달에 있어서 어머니의 부부관계와 양육행동의 중요성 및 그 개입의 필요성을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study investigated the mediating effects of parenting styles of mothers in the relationships between marital conflict and self-esteem of young children. Methods Data were collected from 200 children and their mothers. Statistical methods used for data analysis were correlational analysis and regression analysis. Results The results of this study revealed that marital conflict of mothers had negative effects on nurturant and autonomy-encouraging parenting styles. Mothers’ nurturant and autonomy-encouraging parenting styles were found to have positive influences on self-esteem of young children. Regression analysis showed that nurturant and autonomy-encouraging parenting styles of mothers mediated the relationship between marital conflict and self-esteem of children. Conclusions This study suggested the importance of improving marital relationships and parenting styles of mothers for developing self-esteem of young children.
