청소년의 학업무기력, 우울, 스마트폰 의존도의 종단적 관계 분석

국문 초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 청소년의 학업무기력, 우울, 스마트폰 의존도의 종단적 관계를 파악하는 것이다. 방법 이를 위하여 한국아동⋅청소년패널조사 2018(Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018)의 중학교 1학년 패널 2,590명의 2018년(1차)부터 2020년(3차)까지의 자료를 자기회귀교차지연모형(Autoregressive Cross-lagged Model)으로 분석하였다. 결과 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모든 잠재변인의 모든 시점에서의 자기회귀 효과가 유의미하게 나타났다. 둘째, 교차지연 효과는 모든 시점에서 동일한 방향으로 나타났으나 변인에 따라 다른 결과가 도출되었다. 구체적으로, 학업무기력은 다음 시점의 우울을 유의미하게 예측하였으나, 스마트폰 의존도에 대한 예측효과는 유의미하지 않았다. 우울은 다음 시점의 학업무기력을 유의미하게 예측하였고, 스마트폰 의존도 역시 유의미하게 예측하였다. 스마트폰 의존도는 다음 시점의 우울을 유의미하게 예측하였으나, 학업무기력에 대한 예측효과는 유의미하지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 학업무기력과 우울, 우울과 스마트폰 의존도는 상호인과적 관계에 있으며, 학업무기력과 스마트폰 의존도는 우울을 매개로 상호인과적 관계에 있음을 나타낸다. 결론 본 연구결과에 대해 논의하고 그 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to explore the longitudinal relationship between academic helplessness, depression, and smartphone dependence among adolescents. Methods For this purpose, data from 2018 (1st) to 2020 (3rd) of 2,590 first-year middle school panel of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018 were analyzed with an Autoregressive Cross-lagged Modeling. Results The analysis results are as follows. First, the regression effects across all time points of all latent variables were significant. Second, the cross-lagged effects appeared in the same direction across all time points, but different results were derived depending on the variables. Specifically, academic helplessness significantly predicted depression at the next time point, but its predictive effect on smartphone dependence was insignificant. Depression significantly predicted academic helplessness at the next time point and also did smartphone dependence significantly. While smartphone dependence significantly predicted depression at the next time point, its predictive effect on academic helplessness was not significant. Based on the evidence above, it was confirmed that not only the relationship between academic helplessness and depression but also the one between depression and smartphone dependence were of mutual causality, and the relationship between academic helplessness and smartphone dependence had a mutual causal one through depression. Conclusions In this study, these findings were discussed with their implications.
