Objectives The purpose of this study is to classify the latent types of interpersonal ability of nursing students in a non-face-to-face classroom environment, and to investigate the relationship between personal characteristics, learning attitudes, emotional intelligence, and self-directed learning ability that affect the latent type
Methods Latent profile analysis and multinomial logistic regression analysis were performed on 378 random samples of nursing students from 3 universities in the J province, S. Korea.
Results First, as a result of analyzing the latent profile of interpersonal ability of nursing students, they were classified into 4 groups. Second, there were statistically significant differences in class participation, major satisfaction, learning attitude, emotional intelligence and self-directed learning ability according to the type of potential profile of interpersonal ability. Third, age, emotional intelligence, and self-directed learning ability were found to have an effect according to the potential profile type of interpersonal ability of nursing students.
Conclusions It was confirmed that the age of nursing students as well as emotional intelligence and self-directed learning ability are important factors to be considered when establishing strategies to improve interpersonal ability of nursing students.
