수학 수업에서 초등학생의 올림⋅버림에 대한 고찰

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 수학 수업에서 올림⋅버림에 대한 학생들의 실태를 조사하여 문제점을 도출하고, 그러한 문제가 나타나는 원인 분석 및 해결 방안 탐색을 목적으로 한다. 방법 2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 수학 교과서 및 익힘책에 나와 있는 내용을 중심으로 평가지를 만들어 ◯◯광역시 소재 J초등학교 5학년 4개반 학생 83명을 대상으로 문제해결 능력과 실생활 맥락과의 연결 능력 및 이해도를 조사하였으며 역대 교육과정에 따른 수학 교과서를 분석하였다. 결과 학생들은 올림⋅버림이 사용되는 실맥락 문제 상황을 나눗셈식으로 나타내었을 때 구하고자 하는 값이 피제수인지 몫인지 혼동하는 경우가 많았고, 올림⋅버림이 일상생활에서 어떻게 사용되는지 설명하는데 어려움을 느꼈고, 수학 용어인 올림⋅버림을 일상 용어와 혼동하였다. 문제에서 제시되고 있는 ‘최대, 최소, 적어도, ~까지’ 등의 용어에 대한 의미를 이해하지 못한 학생이 많았다. 결론 올림⋅버림을 해야 하는 필요성 인식, ‘최대, 최소, 적어도, ~까지’ 등의 용어에 대한 이해와 정확한 값과 어림값이 사용되는 경우의 구분, 올림⋅버림이 사용되는 상황의 다양화, 다양한 방법으로의 문제해결, 상황에 맞는 어림값과 자릿값의 사용을 위한 의사소통 과정이 필요하다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to derive problems by investigating the actual conditions of students about round up and round down in math classes, and to analyze the causes of such problems and explore solutions. Methods In accordance with the 2015 revised curriculum, an evaluation paper was created focusing on the contents of mathematics textbooks and workbooks, and problem solving ability and connection ability and understanding with real life contexts were evaluated for 83 students in 4 classes of 5th grade of J Elementary School located in ◯◯ Metropolitan City. The results of the survey and textbooks according to the historical curriculum were analyzed. Results Students often confuse whether the value they want to find is the dividend or the quotient when the real-world problem situation in which rounding is used is expressed in a division formula, felt. There were many students who did not understand the meaning of terms such as ‘maximum, minimum, at least, to’ presented in the problem, and some students confuse the mathematical term round up and round down with everyday terms. Conclusions Recognition of the necessity of round up and round down, understanding of terms such as ‘maximum, minimum, at least, to’, and the distinction between accurate and rounded values, diversification of situations in which rround up and round down are used, A communication process is needed for problem solving in various ways and for the use of approximations and place values appropriate to the situation.
