국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 초등학생들이 지각한 신체적 자기개념과 자아존중감, 인성의 관계와 자아존중감의 매개효과를 검증하는데 목적을 두었다. 방법 이를 위하여 D시에 소재한 초등 3개교의 4학년이상, 411명의 설문지를 활용하였고, 구조방정식모델 분석을 통해 연구모델의 가설을 검증하였다. 결과 첫째, 초등학생들은 신체적 자기개념을 높게 지각할 때 인성함양에 도움이 되는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 신체적 자기개념을 높게 지각할수록 자아존중감도 높아질 수 있음을 확인하였다. 셋째, 초등학생들의 자아존중감은 인성함양에 효과적임을 확인하였다. 넷째, 신체적 자기개념과 인성의 관계에서 자아존중감은 부분 매개하였다. 결론 초등학생들의 인성함양을 위해서는 신체적 자기개념과 자아존중감이 중요한 변인이 될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 향후, 초등학생들이 적극 참여할 수 있는 흥미위주의 신체활동도 중요하지만, 신체적인 성장을 고려한 수업운영이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to verify the mediating effects between the physical self-concept and self-esteem perceived by elementary school students, between he physical self-concept and personality perceived by elementary school students. Methods For this purpose, questionnaires from 411 students in grade 4 and above, from 3 elementary schools located in D city were used, and the hypothesis of the research model was verified through structural equation model analysis. Results First, it was found that elementary school students are helpful in cultivating personality when they perceive a high level of physical self-concept. Second, it was confirmed that the higher the perceived physical self-concept, the higher the self-esteem. Third, it was confirmed that the self-esteem of elementary school students is effective in cultivating character. Fourth, in the relationship between physical self-concept and personality, self-esteem was partially mediated. Conclusions It was confirmed that physical self-concept and self-esteem can be important variables for character development of elementary school students. In the future, although it is important to engage in physical activities centered on interest that elementary school students can actively participate in, classes must be operated in consideration of physical growth.
