영문 초록

It is well known that the universities have very important role to develop the potential of leading the national science and technology advancement. In this sense, Korean government has launched several support programs for the university research centers with limited national budget. For efficient management of limited budget in the future, those support programs need to be diagnosed whether they overlap in terms of the purpose, the area of R&D and so on. However, there is lack of objectiveness in the similarity determination since the process to measure the similarity is often qualitative, subjective, and cognitive. This research diagnosed the similarity status of the some support programs for university research centers using some datamining methodologies, such as multidimensional scaling and hierarchical clustering analysis, with some quantitative data. First, we used the easurements of the expert s subjective cognition as one approach, and secondly the invested budget which is classified by two categories such as research areas and research phases as the other approach. Finally the common findings from the comparison of two different approaches are drawn. The methodologies used in this paper can be used for several topics in technology management dealing with similarity assessment.
