영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the characteristics of accusative/genitive/ instrumental nominal adverbials in Russian. Generally, noun-based adverbs, i.e., nominal adverbials in Russian are employed as adverbs in accusative, genitive, and instrumental case. This study investigates the mechanism of case assignment of adverbials and the syntactic structure of sentences containing nominal adverbials. From a viewpoint of the Minimalist Approach, this paper examines the syntax of Russian nominal adverbials, which have a variety of meanings and functions inside sentences. Most of all, this paper attempts to seek for a syntactic unification of case assignment and its responsible functional category of null P°/null Q°/Pred° as well as distinguishing adjuncts from arguments indispensable as constituents of the sentence.
