대학 교양교육으로서 지역사회 연계교육의 현황과 과제

국문 초록

본 연구는 역량중심교육으로의 전환과 함께 대두되는 대학생의 지역사회에 대한 관심과 이해를 높이기 위한 하나의 방법으로서 대학 교양교육을 위한 대학-지역사회 연계교육의 방향과 과제를 알아보 기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 대학-지역사회 연계에 관한 문헌을 고찰하고, 교양교육과 관련하여 진행되어 온 대학-지역사회 연계교육의 5가지 유형(동아리활동, 봉사활동, 외부활동경험, 봉사관련교과, 봉사학습 등)에 관한 연구결과를 비교, 분석하였다. 그리하여 향후 대학-지역사회 연계교육을 위한 여섯 가지 방향 및 과제가 제안되었다. 첫째, 대학-지역사회 연계교육의 효과성을 높이려면 수업과 학생연구를 통해 교과활동과 지역사회 봉사활동이 유기적으로 의미있게 연결되어야 한다. 둘째, 지역사 회 연계교육을 통해 학습자들의 핵심역량 향상과 교육효과를 극대화하기 위해서는 이를 교과 교육과정 으로 운영할 수 있는 지역연계교육의 정교한 학습모형이 구안되어야 한다. 셋째, 교과 교육과정이 효과적으로 운영되기 위해서는 표준화된 수업모형과 각 단계별 운영전략을 구체화하고, 그에 따른 교재와 매뉴얼 등을 개발⋅공유해야 한다. 넷째, 대학에서는 지역사회의 네트워크를 형성⋅관리하고, 교수자들을 지원하고 연결해줄 수 있는 전담조직이 구축⋅운영되어야 한다. 다섯째, 해당 교과목에 책무성을 가진 전문 교수진을 확보함으로써 지역연계교육의 지속적인 발전을 위해 헌신하도록 해야 한다. 끝으로, 지역사회 연계교육에 대한 더 많은 연구가 수행되고 그 결과를 공유함으로써 전국적인 대학-지역사회-지방정부 간의 협력체계를 구축하고, 이를 통해 학생 개인의 역량개발 뿐 아니라 국가적 으로 지역사회의 문제해결역량 향상에도 기여할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics and research results of community-linked education models, which have been receiving intensive attention in recent years due to the transition to competency-based education. This study also aims to discover the future directions and/or tasks for enhancing the effectiveness of community-linked education as liberal arts education. For this, firstly this study reviewed the literature review pertaining to the college-community linkage types and community-linked education models for liberal arts education. Secondly, this study conducted comparison analysis between 5 community-linked education models such as club activities, volunteer activities, out of class experiences, servicerelated subjects, and service learning, in order to derive implications for future community-linked education. As a result, the following 5 directions or tasks were proposed: First, in-class activities and community-related volunteer activities should be meaningfully connected through the subjects and students’research to increase the effectiveness of community-linked education. Second, elaborated learning models for community-linked education should be developed to maximize the improvement of the learners core competencies and other educational effects through the curriculum or subject. Third, effective teaching models and strategies for operating this course should be specified, and textbooks and manuals should be developed and shared among the faculty. Fourth, a dedicated body, which is responsible for building networks for regional communities, and supporting and connecting faculty who facilitate this course, should be established and operated. Fifth, only highly responsible faculty members should be designated for this subject, so that they can devote themselves to this subject’s continuous improvement. Lastly, more research on community-linked education should be carried out and the results should be shared to establish a nationwide college-community-local government cooperative system, which improve not only students’ competency, but also community’s problem solving capacity.
