고등학생의 학교운영 참여가 시민의식과 학교만족도에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 고등학생의 학교운영 참여가 시민의식과 학교만족도에 미치는 순수 효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위해 경기도교육연구원에서 수집한 경기교육종단연구(GEPS) 7차년도(2018년, 고등학교 1학년)와 8차년도(2019년, 고등학교 2학년) 자료를 활용하였으며, 경향점수매칭(Propensity Score Matching)과 이중차분(Difference-in-Difference) 추정기법을 적용하였다. 결과 분석결과, 우선 경향점수매칭을 적용해 학교운영 참여, 시민의식 및 학교만족도와 관련된 다양한 공변인을 통제한 후에도 학교운영 참여 집단과 미참여 집단 간의 시민의식과 학교만족도에는 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 학교운영 참여 집단이 미참여 집단에 비해 시민의식 수준이 높았고, 학교에 만족하는 정도가 높았다. 다음으로 학교운영 참여가 고등학생의 시민의식과 학교만족도에 미치는 순수 한계 효과를 이중차분 추정기법을 통해 살펴본 결과, 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 학교운영에 참여하는 것이 고등학생의 시민의식과 학교만족도를 유의미하게 높였다. 결론 이러한 분석결과를 반영하여 학생이 학교운영에 참여하고, 의견이 적극적으로 반영되는 민주적이고 인권친화적인 학교문화 형성을 토대로 시민의식과 학교만족도를 높이기 위한 시사점을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of participation in school management on the citizenship and the school satisfaction for high school students. Methods To do this, propensity score matching and difference-in-difference method was applied to data of 7th(2018, 10th grade) and 8th(2019, 11th grade) waves of Gyeonggi Education Panel Study(GEPS). Results As results, after controlling covariates related to participation in school management, citizenship, and school satisfaction, it was found that there was statistically significant difference between the citizenship and the school satisfaction due to participating in school management. The group with participation in school management had higher average in the citizenship and the school satisfaction than that of the group without participation in school management. Additionally, difference-in-difference analysis using the data after propensity score matching revealed that the effect of participation in school management was statistically significant. In other words, participation in school management significantly increased citizenship and school satisfaction of high school students. Conclusions Based on the results of this study, the implications for improving citizenship and school satisfaction through active and effective participation in school management were discussed.
