문화 성향, 성 정체감 및 외상 후 성장 개념 간의 관계에 대한 탐색적 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 개인의 문화 성향과 성 정체감이 개인의 외상 후 성장 개념에 영향을 미칠 수 있는지 탐색하고자 하였다. 구체적으로 개인주의⋅집단주의, 여성성⋅남성성과 외상 후 성장 개념간의 관련성을 확인하였다. 방법 외상 경험이 있는 만 18세 이상의 성인 총 484명의 참가자들을 대상으로 외상 후 성장 척도(PTGI)의 각 문항이 ‘본인이 생각하는 성장의 개념’을 잘 표현하고 있는지 평가하도록 하고, 이를 다음의 두 단계로 분석하였다. 먼저, 한국 문화권에서 상대적으로 중요하게 지각되는 외상 후 성장 개념 하위 요인 간 차이가 있는지 알아보기 위해 일원분산분석을 실시하였다. 다음으로 성별의 효과를 통제한 후, 문화 성향으로 개인주의⋅집단주의가 그리고 성 정체감으로는 여성성⋅남성성이 외상 후 성장 개념을 예측하는지 알아보기 위해 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 결과 외상 후 성장 개념 하위 요인 간 유의한 차이가 있었으며, 참가자들은 개인 개념, 가능성 개념과 감사 개념, 대인 개념, 영적 개념 순으로 중요하게 지각하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 개인주의⋅집단주의, 여성성⋅남성성이 외상 후 성장 개념의 하위요인을 예측하는 정도가 다르게 나타났다. 결론 한국 문화권에서는 상대적으로 개인 강점의 발견이 가장 중요한 성장 개념으로 인식되었다. 또한 개인이 가지고 있는 문화적 요인(문화 성향, 성 정체감)에 따라 각자 중요하게 생각하는 외상 후 성장 개념이 달라질 수 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of the present study was to examine how the perceptions of posttraumatic growth varied by cultural dispositions and sex-role identities. Methods A total of 484 adults over 18 years of age who have reported diverse traumatic experiences participated in the study. Participants completed the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory(PTGI) and rated how much each of the items in the PTGI represents their concepts of personal growth. First, ANOVA was conducted to determine whether there were significant differences between the concepts of posttraumatic growth. Next, the multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine whether cultural dispositions and sex-role identities predict the concepts of posttraumatic growth after controlling for gender effects. Results Results indicated that there were significant differences. In addition, cultural dispositions and sex-role identities predicted the five domains of the modified PTGI in different directions. Conclusions In Korean culture, ‘personal strength’ was recognized as the most important concept of posttraumatic growth. Also, the concept of posttraumatic growth that they consider important may vary by individual cultural factors.
