국문 초록

글쓰기란 단순한 기술의 영역을 넘어서서 글을 쓰는 사람의 가치관을 반영한다.따라서 글쓰기 교육은 21세기 사회가 지향하는 ‘전인 교육’을 실현하기 위한 핵심적인역할을 수행한다.본 연구는 보다 나은 글쓰기 교육 환경을 조성하기 위해 국내외 대학에서 진행되고 있는 글쓰기 교육 운영 현황을 두루 살펴보고,그 과정에서 발견되는 국내 대학 글쓰기 교육의 구조적 한계를 주목하고 있다.그 결과 오늘날 국내 대학강좌는 학생 개개인의 수준이 고려되지 않은 채 일회성 교육에 머물고 있다는 한계를발견할 수 있었다.따라서 글쓰기 교육의 세분화와 지속성에 관한 필요성이 제기되었다.또한 전반적인 수업의 질적 향상을 위해서는 전임교원의 처우 개선도 논의의 대상에 포함된다고 보았다.이는 교수자 개인의 노력만으로 해결될 수 없다는 점에서, 오늘날 우리가 함께 고민해야 할 핵심적 쟁점에 해당한다. 본 연구는 대학의 교양교육으로서 글쓰기 교육의 현황을 통계적 수치로 점검하고, 무엇보다 현장의 목소리를 반영하여 글쓰기 교육의 현실적인 문제를 지적하고 있다. 이를 통해 보다 효과적은 대학 교양 글쓰기 교육 환경을 조성할 수 있는데 일조(一助) 할 수 있기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

Writing, reflects the writer’s values beyond the mere acquisition of writing skills. Therefore, teaching writings plays a key role in realizing the “well rounded education” that society aims for in the 21st century. This study examines the current educational and operational states of academic writing classes that domestic and foreign universities offer to suggest a better educational environment for writing curricula by paying attention to the structural limits of writing courses at domestic universities. As a result, writing courses of present Korean universities apparently stays one-off without considering the individual levels of students. Therefore, the needs for segmentation and continuity of teaching academic writings have been raised. The paper includes discussions concerning a better treatment of full-time teachers to improve the overall quality of classes. This issue corresponds to a key subject that we need to think about together today in that the efforts of professors alone cannot resolve the problems. This study examines the current status of teaching academic writings as a requirement in higher education with statistical figures and mostly emphasizes the realistic problems of writing classes by reflecting the voices from the field. Creating a more effective environment for academic writings classes at colleges would be thus anticipated.
