국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 초등 교육과정에서 한국어 교과와 국어 교과에 포함된 다문화 교육 내용 요소를 비교·분석함으로써 공교육 현장에서 언어 관련 교과목을 통해 다문화교육이 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지를 파악하는 데에 있다.분석 대상은 2017 한국어(KSL)와 2015 초등 국어과 교육과정이며 분석틀은 교과융합 다문화교육을 위해 개발한 ‘다문화교육IDEA모형’으로 한국어과와 국어과의 교육과정 성취기준과 교재들을IDEA모형의 4개 핵심영역(정체성,다양성,인권과 평등,공존과 협력)과 16개 하위 개념 요소 및 성취기준을 이용하여 코딩했다.연구 결과,한국어과는 국어과에 비해 다문화교육 내용 요소가 상대적으로 부족하며,기능별,수준별로 다문화 요소의 편중이나타났다.특히 교육내용의 난이도 측면에서 중도입국생들의 연령이나 인지발달단계를 고려하기보다 이를 언어능력과 동일시하는 것으로 나타났다.국어과 교육과정의경우 다문화요소는 많은 편이지만 언어기능별,다문화 영역별 편차가 크다.한국어는중도입국생들이 공교육에서 처음 접하는 과목이자 집중적으로 시간을 할애하는 교과인 점에 주목하며,본 연구는 한국어 교육과정에 보다 적극적으로 다문화교육 요소를포함하여 언어뿐 아니라 전반적 적응과 성장을 지원할 것을 제언한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to understand how multicultural education is being implemented through language-related subjects by conducting a comparative analysis of the multicultural content included in Korean Language (KL) and Korean as a Second Language (KSL) curriculum. The “Multicultural Education IDEA Model” developed for subject-associated multicultural education was used as the analytic framework. Specifically, achievement standards and textbooks of KL and KSL were coded using four core areas (Identity, Diversity, Equity, Along with) and 16 sub-concepts of the IDEA model. It was found that, compared to KL, KSL included less multicultural content in the curriculum. Furthermore, foreign-born immigrant children’s cognitive levels or ages were not considered for their KSL education. The results of this study indicate that the KSL curriculum needs to emphasize multicultural education so that newly-arrived diverse children can develop both Korean language and multicultural sensitivity.
