국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 사회과 교사가 수업에서 자신의 정치 성향을 어떻게 공개하는지, 그러한 결정에 영향을 준 요인은 무엇인지 이해하는 데 목적이 있다.방법 이를 위하여 심층 면담과 문헌 연구를 주축으로 하는 질적 사례 연구 방법을 활용하였다. 참여자는 초, 중, 고등학교 교사 6명이며, 반 구조화된 면담 방식으로 인터뷰를 진행하였다.결과 첫째, 여섯 명의 교사 중 다섯 명의 교사는 ‘중립적 공정형’, 한 명의 교사는 ‘신념을 가진 공정형’에 부합하였다. 둘째, 초등학교와 중학교 교사의 경우, 학부모의 민원이나 학교 관리자의 간섭을 받은 경험이 정치 성향 공개에 관한 결정에 영향을 주었다. 셋째, 교사의 정치 성향 공개에 관한 판단은 학생들에게 공정함을 유지해야 한다는 직업적 책임감이 영향을 주었다. 넷째, 교사들은 수업에서 공정성을 유지하기 위해 자신만의 장치를 만들어 실행하고 있었다.결론 연구 결과 정치 성향 공개와 관련한 교사의 판단은 교실 상황에 따라 변한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 정치적, 사회적 이슈를 다루는 수업에서 교사의 역할에 대해 당위적으로 인식할 것이 아니라, 교사가 처해 있는 상황과 맥락을 이해할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of the study is to understand what influenced teachers to reveal their political disclosure in social studies classes and how they became more difficult. Methods To this end, qualitative case study methods led by in-depth interviews and literature research were utilized. Six elementary, middle and high school social studies teachers were interviewed in a semi-structured interview. Results As a result, the following conclusions were obtained: First, the decision on the disclosure of teachers political tendencies was made within the scope of avoiding interference from parents and school administrators and outside complaints. Second, the reason why teachers decide on the disclosure of political orientation by school level was because of the professional responsibility of teachers who should be politically neutral and should not have harmful effects on students. Third, the disclosure of a teacher s political orientation was changing with the circumstances or contexts of a classroom. Conclusions It is necessary to understand the situation and context of teachers regarding the disclosure of political orientation.
