국문 초록

이 연구는 C대학교의 서평 교육 사례를 통하여 학술적 글쓰기로서의 서평 활용방안을 제안하고자 하였다.이를 위해 먼저 대학 안팎의 글쓰기 교육에서 그동안 서평쓰기가 어떻게 진행되어 왔는지를 살펴보았다.독서의 심화를 위해 읽기와 통합하는방식,소통을 강조하며 말하기와 연계하는 방식 외에도 학술 공동체의 글쓰기라는 측면에서 학술논문을 대상으로 하거나 학술도서를 대상으로 한 본격적 학술서평 쓰기등이 있었다.이러한 서평 글쓰기에는 각기 장점이 있기는 하나 학술 글쓰기 초심자인 대학 신입생 대상의 글쓰기는 접근이 너무 어렵거나 글쓰기 외부의 목적이 중시되어서는 안 된다고 보았다.따라서 독서의 심화나 소통 강화에 강조점을 두기보다는대학 수학 과정에 요구되는 글의 형식 학습에 초점을 두고 학술적 글쓰기 형식을 익히는 방향의 서평 쓰기를 제안하였다.이때 학술적 형식은 가장 손쉬운 단계의 논증형식으로서 이어지는 학술논문 글쓰기의 기초가 되도록 하였다.

영문 초록

This study proposes book review writing as a method for teaching academic writing, using a case study at C University. First, the study examined how book reviews have been treated in academic writing education both inside and outside universities. Various methods were used, some of which were integrated with reading to facilitate critical analysis and others linked with speaking, with an emphasis on communication. In addition to these, some methods dealt exclusively with academic literature and theses, which treat book reviews as a way of communication inside academia. Although these methods have their own merits, for university freshmen with little to no experience in academic writing, book reviews needed to be an accessible method of teaching writing, with no external purpose other than the composition itself. If the focus is taken away from reading comprehension or communication, it is possible to use book review writing as a tool to teach the basics of academic writing by emphasizing the proper form required for university courses. The “form” here is the most fundamental format of argumentation, which serves as a foundation for writing academic papers.
