국문 초록

이 연구의 목표는 연민의 감정이 지니는 교육적 의의와 그 사회적 역할에 주목하여, 연민 함양을 위한 현대시 교육을 논의하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 윤리적 행위를 위한 판단의 기제로서 연민을 강조한 M. C. Nussbaum의 논의를 살펴보았다. 또한 나희덕의 시에서 나타나는 연민의 양상을 취약성에 대한 공감과 연민, 공통성에 대한 인식과 연민 및 유한성에 대한 조망과 연민으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 이러한 논의를 바탕으로 연민 함양을 위한 현대시 읽기 교육의 방안을 연민에 대한 이론적 이해와 연민에 주목한 현대시 읽기로 구체화하여 그 적용과 조정을 통한 사회 윤리적 개념으로서 연민 지향과 실천으로 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study is to discuss modern poetry reading education for cultivating compassion, paying attention to the educational significance of compassion and its social role. To this end, the discussion of M. C. Nussbaum, which emphasized compassion as a judgment mechanism for ethical behavior, was examined, and the importance of reading modern poetry for cultivating compassion was focused on the aspect of compassion in Ra Hee-deok s work. Compassion as a rational reflection comes from understanding the cognitive element of compassion as an observer, as well as through empathy and interest in the suffering person. At this time, the judgment that other people are suffering, the assessment that it is unfair, and the belief that such pain must be resolved for the good life of myself as well as others is formed from a very early stage through the method of establishing close relationships with various people. In the process, it is essential to empathize with others suffering through empathy or to imagine a better life. By reading modern poems that reveal compassion like this, you can think about the lives of others other than myself and those close to me, and pay attention to the commonality of being a human being, for a better life. You think about what you can or should do. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the significance of compassion as a social ethical concept, and more actively consider the goals and contents of education to foster compassion in modern poetry reading education. These discussions have the character of emphasizing compassion as a motive that enables today s learners, who are experiencing the so-called era of disgust, to establish social solidarity as a fundamental method to solve the problems of disgust.
