영문 초록

Purpose: This paper reports a case where some foreign bodies are identified in the lacrimal sac after silicon tube intubation due to congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction and then effectively eliminated by performing endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy. Case summary: A 3 year old girl visited our hospital for the reason of constant epiphora and pain in her left eye after silicon tube intubation due to the congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction in her left eye. The patient received the silicon tube intubation in her left eye three times because she removed it herself. After the positions of the foreign bodies were found by means of a C-arm under general anesthesia, they were eliminated through endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy. The patient well recovered without complication in the nasal cavity after the surgery, and the conditions of epiphora and eye pain complained by her before the surgery got better. Conclusions: This paper reports the case of a child patient who had foreign bodies in the lacrimal sac caused by the complication of silicon tube intubation as foreign bodies were effectively eliminated by the endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy after evaluating their positions using facial radiography by C-arm while minimizing radiation exposure. Also, it is believed that we should consider the possibility of foreign bodies within the lacrimal sac in patients who show continuous epiphora after elimination of silicon tube intubation.
