욕망의 ‘지양’과 ‘지향’으로서의 최승자 시 읽기 방법

국문 초록

최승자 시를 바라보는 무의식 중심의 논의에서 나아가 그녀의 시를 욕망이라는 화두로 감상하게 되면, 욕망은 그릇된 인간 본성에 불과하다는 보편적 인식의 한계에서 벗어나게 된다. 욕망이 부정되거나 비판되어야 할 인간의 본능이라는 입장은, 그 욕망이 타자 지향적 욕망이기에 그러함을 본고에서는 밝혀 보았다. 유아기에 어머니와의 관계 속에서 어머니가 욕망하는 것을 지향하고 어머니가 인정하는 이미지만을 추구함으로써 유아는 개별적 욕망에 대한 지향성을 상실하게 된 것이다. 아울러 사회화를 통해 경험하는 남성 권력과 사회적 규범, 그리고 사물을 대체하는 상징에 대한 지향성으로 인해 다시 한번 주체적 욕망이 타자적 욕망으로 대체되는 현상을 경험하게 되는 것이다. 라깡이 상상계와 상징계를 통해 타자적 욕망에 대한 비판가능성을 역설하듯 최승자의 시학은 시적 형상화를 통해 타자적 욕망의 기원을 조망하고자 한다. 라깡과 최승자는 이러한 타자적 욕망에 길들여진 부정성을 비판하고 극복하기 위해 남성 권력과 언어 이전의 순수한 사물과 대상을 지향하고자 하는 주체적 욕망의 가치를 부각시키고자 한다. 타자적 욕망과 주체적 욕망으로 이원화한 관점은 학생들에게 강조되어야 할 최승자 시 감상의 중요한 요소라고 할 수 있겠다.

영문 초록

When going beyond the unconsciousness-centered discussion to see Choi Seung-ja’s poems to appreciate her poems with the topic of desire, we become to break away from the limit of universal recognition that desire is nothing more than a wrong human nature. This paper revealed the fact that the position that desire is a human instinct that must be denied or criticized is attributable to the fact that the desire is other-oriented desire. Infants became to lose their orientation toward individual desires because they aimed at what their mother desired and pursued only those images that were acknowledged by their mother in their relationship with their mother during their infancy. In addition, due to the male power and social norms experienced through socialization, and the orientation toward symbols that replace objects, they become to experience the phenomenon of replacement of their subjective desires by other s desires once again. As Lacan emphasizes the possibility of criticizing other’s desires through the imaginary and the world of symbols, Choi Seung-ja s poetics attempts to look at the origin of other’s desires through poetic embodiment. Lacan and Choi Seung-ja try to highlight the value of the subjective desire to aim at pure things and objects before male power and language in order to criticize and overcome the negativity that has been tamed by these other’s desires. The perspective that was dualized into other’s desires and subjective desires can be said to be an important element in the appreciation of Choi Seung-ja s poems that should be emphasized to students.
